|F. A. C.
This is what the Farwell Athletic Club is all about.
I had the 1919 team photo for 25 years before I ever noticed the design on the guys’ shirts. There may, or may not, have been an Athletic Club. I have asked a lot of folks. No one remembers. Besides, it really doesn’t matter. Maybe they had a building and a meeting spot. Who knows? All I know is that athletics and sports were a big and powerful activity that brought much community pride, excitement, unity, fun and Spirit to Farwell and small town Americana for years.
I am firmly convinced they had Faith, a great Attitude and a wonderful Spirit of Community. If we carry on with those same qualities, the Farwell Athletic Club WILL stay alive, where ever we are.
Like our predecessors, aspire to be great. Some aim to be like Joe Montana and Bo Jackson, and Jon Gruden, others would like to be a great scorer like Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming. We are a club of may sports, though we play different sports, we aim to be great. We have a lot of old and new players that we admire. There's Pete Rose with his lightning fast aggressive base running style. Adrian Peterson, one of the finest running backs in the history of American football. The world-renowned tennis player Maria Sharapova. Boxing legend Evander Holyfield, NHL's Jaromir Jagr, NBA's Allen Iverson with his speed of sound quickness and his signature crossover dribble.
We help ourselves reach our goal, but we don't limit ourselves to our sports club, we also help the community of Farwell doing community services and activities. We teach kids and those in adolescence to keep away from drugs and stay in school, and be active in sports instead.
You may forget about Farwell and the FARWELL ATHLETIC CLUB, but don't forget what made the F.A.C. We soar like the great bald eagle!
Faith, Attitude and Community!
